Our Story
Twenty-five years in the making
Velocity Dance Academy was founded in 2001 by Thabo Nkosi — a competitive hip-hop dancer who spent twelve years touring internationally before coming home to teach. What started as afternoon classes in a Fourways community hall grew into Velocity's own studio by 2004.
That performer's edge — precision, stage presence, relentless work ethic — is still what defines Velocity today. What began as one dancer's passion project has grown into a school that sends its crews to the world stage, without ever losing its neighbourhood energy.
